Voluntary help welcome.

This page contains an overview of the different types of opportunities available at the CPRE. We also have suggestions for students for projects to tie in with your studies.

District Groups

The creation of the District Groups has resulted in a large number of opportunities for volunteers to influence the shape of the countryside in your area.

Education

Recently retired or between teaching jobs?
Interested in helping young children learn about the countryside?
We have an exciting school activity project already set up. All it needs is some interested people to help us organise it and develop it further!

Initial training would be provided along with access to and ongoing support from CPRE Central office, Bamber Bridge.

Events Co-ordinator

We are looking for someone to help us to develop a factfile of information for use by each of our local groups. Part of that information required will be a list of suitable venues, shows and events etc. at which a CPRE presence would be appropriate. Pevious venues have included country fairs/shows, environmental fairs, conservation events, charitable conferences and one off summer events etc.

Using knowledge of your local area (and beyond) we would like you to create an annual diary and a forward plan of suitable venues in which you consider a CPRE presence would be appreciated, to include details of the type of visitor, organisers, size and indications of previous success of the events.

We envisage that most of the work could be carried out at your home along with a committment of approx 2 - 3 hours per week.

Initial training would be provided along with access to and ongoing support from CPRE Central office, Bamber Bridge.

Painters/Decorators

We have a lovely old building with lots of rooms which desperately need a new coat of paint - we’ll supply the paint of course and maybe even a brush at a pinch!

Photographers

The Branch often needs volunteers to take photographs of threatened, beautiful, ordinary or damaged sites. It would be ideal if we were able to get photographs of our landscapes, before and after development, so that all of our heritage is not lost for ever.

For the more enthusiastic photographer we have a very challenging project. Why not help us to produce a Lancashire CPRE Travelling Exhibition?

Public Relations

Are you able to write an exciting press release? The staff at CPRE have all the information you would need but our time is limited so we miss plenty of opportunities to publicize our work. We are seeking someone to help us to develop a local Factfile of Information for use by each local group. Amongst the information required will be knowledge of local media and press contacts in the District. We would like you to:

  • Research as to the types of Media present in the District.

  • Furnish us with a breakdown of opportunities within this media for CPRE to establish newsworthy items and information, eg News, What's On, Advertising Space etc.

  • Monitor, collate and forward press items relevant to us at Lancashire CPRE.

We envisage that most of the work could be carried out at your home along with a committment of approx 2 - 3 hours per week.

Initial training would be provided along with access to and ongoing support from CPRE Central office, Bamber Bridge.

Fundraiser

As is the case with all charities, the Lancashire branch of the CPRE can only survive if it has people who are dedicated to raising money on its behalf. Members of staff have lots of ideas, many of them not taking up too much of your time, on how best to raise money. We need help in the setting up and implementation of Coffee Mornings, Garden Open Days, Supermarket Collections, etc... the list goes on !

In house training will be provided to you if you are intrested in volunteering for any of these duties.
The National CPRE offers many training events all over the country and where appropriate you will be given the opportunity to attend these on behalf of the Lancashire Branch of the CPRE.

Any Other Suggestions

The Lancashire Branch of CPRE has all kinds of opportunities for people to volunteer. If you don’t see an opening that appeals to you and yet you know you have something that the Branch could benefit by - then please contact us.

CPRE also frequently register vacancies with your local Council for Voluntary Services / Volunteer Bureau.

If you are still keen but stuck for ideas why not look at our suggestions for students that anyone is welcome to try.
